Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell were often at loggerheads on last years first series of Britain’s Got Talent, and this year Piers has promised more of the same!
“We’re both very, very competitive and that ‘creative tension’ tends to spill over every now and again, usually over some singer who doesn’t fit his ‘good-looking, super-talented, young’ image criteria,” he said.
“My favourite exchange came when he flipped one day and said: ‘May I remind you that I have sold 150 million records’ to which I replied: ‘Sure, so long as I can remind you that I have sold 3.1 billion newspapers’. Which is true. He was temporarily silenced by that.”
Piers says the 2008 competition is much more open - and may even have a canine winner.
“The interesting thing about this year is that I think the field is a lot more open than last year, when it was fairly obvious to everyone that Paul Potts was the stand-out favourite.
“We could even have our first non-human winner, there is a dog so talented that Simon called her the ‘New Lassie’.”
Britain’s Got Talent starts on ITV1 on April 12.
