Britain’s Got Talent 2010: Meet Kevin Cruise (VIDEO)
One of the stand out acts from this week’s (and possibly this series of) Britain’s Got Talent, is Cruise ship entertainer Kevin Cruise.
Winner of Drag Idol 2009, Kevin Cruise is the chief host on board the fictional Cruise Ship ‘The Fishy Rose’ which is a 5,000 passenger and 2,000 crew floating entertainment complex. He is the alter ego of actor/comedian Martin Cabble, who based Kevin on a number of the entertainers he met when working as a performer on various Ships.
For his BGT audition glamorous Kevin, resplendent in his gold sequined shirt and WAG like tan, emerged onto the stage of the London Hammersmith Apollo on a skateboard sized cruise ship.
Simon Cowell immediately took a dislike to the camp entertainer and told him that ‘usually, the people who work on ships are terrible.’ Not to be dissuaded, Kevin insisted ‘Simon, I’m here to prove you wrong,’ before launching into his all singing, all dancing routine.
He then embarked on his ‘Cruise Ship Show Medley,’ which included snippets of a 70′s show, a rap break, some river dancing and a Broadway segment. Kevin ended his routine by revealing his fetching pink vest top, emblazoned with the face of Jane McDonald.
Of course Simon hated the whole thing from beginning to end, but Kevin won over Amanda Holden who exclaimed:
“If we got you to the final, we wouldn’t need any other acts!”
and Piers Morgan who laughed:
“I would go cruising with you Kevin any time!”
Check out some of Kevin’s audition below.
