Britain’s Got Talent 2010: Spellbound make a splash in America
After the phenomenon that was Susan Boyle, it seems that America has sat up and taken notice of the acts showcased in this year’s series of Britain’s Got Talent. Just days after great grandmother Janey Cutler was interviewed on American TV shows, gymnastic group Spellbound now seem to be creating a Stateside buzz.
The acrobatic gymnasts wowed the BGT judges on an earlier audition show with their daring routine. Amanda Holden described the group’s performance as “faultless”, while Piers Morgan talked about “this thrilling conclusion that had this whole theatre going crazy” (video here).
Since appearing on the show the group have already appeared in a top American magazine and Entertainment Weekly gushed:
“If you’ve yet to see Spelbound, the gymnastics group that rocked Britain’s Got Talent – including judge Simon Cowell – you’ll want to watch the clip.
They range in age from 12 to 24, have killer abs, propel each other into the air and across the stage, balance themselves on one hand on each other’s heads, and swing one girl like a skipping rope.”
After the group amassed an impressive 200,000 hits on their YouTube video, an insider told The Sun:
“It is usually singing acts that do really well in America like Susan Boyle and Janey Cutler, but Americans have really taken notice of Spelbound this year.
“They could be the first non-singing act from Britain’s Got Talent to do really well there.”
