Britain’s Got Talent 2010: Strange Alibaba bemuse the judges

Making their TV debut on tomorrow night’s Britain’s Got Talent are dance act Alibaba, aka friends Memit, 26 form Turkey and Kelsey,17 from Wigan.

Kelsey tells the cameras; ‘We met in Turkey when I was on holiday, he was an entertainer in a pub that we always went into. He asked me to go up [on stage] one night and then we’ve just been dancing ever since.’

Alibaba walk out to face the judges.

The act starts with Memet alone on the stage dancing to Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. Kelsey waits in the wings for her moment to join him on stage. She chats to Ant and Dec while she waits.

Ant – What’s it like working together then?

Kelsey – Not good, he’s dead bossy.

As the music changes through a medley of Jackson hits, Kelsey is still waiting in the wings for her cue.

Memet hears a buzz from one of the judges and suddenly stops dancing and leaves the stage. In the wings, Ant, Dec and Kelsey ask him what he’s doing and explain he only stops if he gets three buzzes. It takes a while for Memet to realise this. As the music changes to Dirty Dancing’s Time of My Life, Memet returns to the stage with Kelsey, just in time to attempt their grand finale Dirty Dancing-style lift. The judges and audience can barely watch as Memet struggles to hold Kelsey above his head.

But the act is not finished there. Memet decides to finish the performance with a very fast traditional Turkish dance as Kelsey just stands to one side.

A bemused audience watch on. Has this eccentric fusion of Michael Jackson, Dirty Dancing and traditional Turkish entertainment won the judges vote?

Tune in to ITV1 at 8pm tomorrow night to find out!
