Britain’s Got Talent 2010: Tina & Chandi have been training for 11 years

Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Tina Humphrey has revealed that she has been training her dog Chandi for 11 years, since rescuing her from the pound.

The 37-year-old music teacher and her dog have won three Crufts Heelwork to Music and Freestyle competitions in 2009 and also performed on Blue Peter, The Crufts programme, When Will I be Famous, Richard and Judy

Speaking to the programme’s official website, she said: “The practice has accumulated over the last 11 years. You just keep building on the foundations you lay to start with. You just get better and better.

“Unbelievably we are still coming up with new things to invent and tricks to teach her. But it’s getting harder and harder because she can do so much.”

On how she discovered Chandi’s natural rhythm she added: “I realised that Chandi was special the moment I clapped eyes on her at the dog pound. I already had a dog called Pepper, who is sadly no longer with us, and I’d already been doing freestyle with her.

“I wanted a younger dog to do some more with. I went to the pound and there she was being brought in. It was meant to be.”
