Britain’s Got Talent 2011: Ant and Dec wanted Joe Oakley and NOT Paul Gbegbaje in final!
Ant and Dec have admitted that they expected Joe Oakley to win a place on Saturday night’s Britain’s Got Talent final show.
The cycling stunt artist wowed the judges tonight with his daring act, however when it was revealed that he was competing against Paul Gbegbaje for the last place in the grand finale, the judges split. After deadlock was reached, it was announced that Joe was going home because Paul had received more votes and would join Ronan Parke in the final.
Speaking afterwards on ITV2′s Britain’s Got More Talent, show presenters Ant and Dec revealed that they were shocked by the result.
After the show I tipped Ronan, Joe and Paul and I thought Joe would go through.. Just because it was more dangerous, a bit more breath taking. I think Paul is great, don’t get me wrong but I thought Joe would have just shaded it. It just goes to show, you never can tell.
His telly partner Ant agreed and addressed Paul’s earlier performance piece of a medley of popular tracks, adding:
I thought Joe was very, very good and I thought that Paul was good. I agree with Simon’s comments and I’d like to hear just one track. That kind of medley didn’t really do it for me.
Do you agree with Ant and Dec? Do you think Joe was more deserving of a place in Saturday’s final? Leave your comments below!
