David Hasselhoff has admitted that he is looking forward to Simon Cowell’s return to Britain’s Got Talent, for the series’ live semi finals.
The former Baywatch actor goes back a long way with the music mogul, as Simon once acted as his A&R man when The Hoff tried to launch a music career in the early nineties.
He has promised viewers that they will no doubt clash over some of the acts, but insisted that below it all, they will always be good friends. David said:
“I’m looking forward to sparring with him. Simon was my A&R guy back in 1993 and we used to have some pretty heated arguments about my singing.
“So you’ll be seeing a few slings and arrows going back and forth. But we’re actually really good friends. Simon’s come to my defence a few times when I’ve needed him and I’m always there for him.”
David has sat alongside fellow Britain’s Got Talent judges Amanda Holden and Michael McIntyre during the nationwide auditions for the ITV show and he says he always looks for people with ‘charisma’ and magnetic personalities.
He explained to Now magazine: “I can pick people out of a crowd and know exactly the person I need to talk to. And I can tell when someone is having me on. I’m pretty good at that.
“I try to vote people through on charisma. People either have it or they don’t – sometimes they’re not the best singers or the best entertainers, but they’re magnetic when you look at them. You can’t draw your eyes away.
“Those are the kind of people I cast in ‘Baywatch’ and those are the ones I think will have longevity as stars.”
