Britain’s Got Talent 2012: David Walliams and Simon Cowell are the new golden duo of comedy at Cardiff auditions
According to Ant and Dec David Walliams and Simon Cowell are inseparable and this new bromance was clear to see when the duo hit Cardiff on the third Britain’s Got Talent audition round.
“Damon” as the duo is now jokingly referred to, spent most of their time sharing in jokes and whispering to each other over the weekend and the pair were laughing and quipping with the audience, often gave them knowing “winks” throughout performances. An audience member later tweeted:
“OMG david walliams and simon cowell’s bromance on the panel is AMAZING.. they just abuse eachother HAHA”
David point blank told one act “That was the worst minute in the history of entertainment”, played relationship counsellor to a bickering couple and wondered if he should get himself a tabard. The Little Britain star then announced that Simon smelled “particularly nice today” to which Simon admitted that David had “gone completely mad”. David and Simon then went head to head in a “pose off”, which David won by a mile.
Then there was an act in which a man was singing from a zipped up shopping bag, all judges buzzed except David who danced and seemed to enjoy it.
Not to be outdone by David, Simon too showed off his dance moves as a swing band, wearing bright yellow suits, played “I Wanna Be Like You” from “Jungle Book”.
The BGT team exclaimed:
“Saturday Night Fever! Simon Cowell just showcased some fancy footwork in the auditions. He’s got the moves like Jagger!”
A giggling David said: “Simon, you do know that that’s King Louis song?”
Meanwhile Simon seems to have come closer to finding the dog act of his dreams as he revealed he came across “the best dog act he may have ever seen”. Or it might have been the doggy toy that David has given him.

BGT TEAM: Can I have my close-up? It's @SimonCowell 's new canine companion. All together now, awww!
Throughout the auditions the two men were inseperable. On Saturday night David, Simon, Ant and Dec were the last to return to St David’s Hotel (Dec was overheard saying: “They named it after you David, after your swim!!”) , having shared a drink and a bite to eat. They all then went for a nightcap in Simon’s room. It might have turned into more then just one drink for the cheery quartet, as David looked a little sleepy when arriving at the auditions the next day. He was even seen to repress a cheeky yawn.
The Sunday started where Saturday ended. Simon seems to get cheekier by the day. When four synch swimmers in a tank appeared he asked David apropos of nothing: “which one would you bang?” In response to the swimmers, the audience cried out to David: “Swim the Taff right now” A frightened David replied – “Nah, it’s a little cold!”
Simon and David said Stephen Mulhern was dressed like a granddad, but Alesha said she liked it. When a man said he’d spend the £500,000 on “as many holidays as Simon”, David asked “but would you take Sinitta?” And then there was one act brought everyone to tears. Next the team will visit London. Check back for all the gossip from those tryouts next week!
