Britain’s Got Talent 2012: David Walliams to front new BBC show, I love My Country

This post was written by guest blogger and reality TV showbiz observer Daniel Cohen. Catch up with him on Twitter here.

Yesterday, Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams fronted a “dry run” for a new quiz show entitled, I Love My Country.

It had been thought that David’s  fellow BGT judge Amanda Holden was in line for the job, but after he excelled during the trial run of the show, David’s beaten her to it.

I Love My Country, which is has been described as “a runaway success around the world” differs from most quiz shows in that it will feature musical, game and audience rounds, all in a show that’s based on what the teams know about their country. Knowing how much of a true blue Brit David Walliams is, this will fit him like a glove!

And even though yesterday was just a stripped down dry run, David was apparently on great form as he worked with panellists and guests including Christine Hamilton, Brian Belo, Greg Davis, Sam Nixon, Mark Roads, Chico and Frank Skinner.

At the end of shooting, Christine remarked, “Didn’t we have FUN!” while Chico posted the above snap of the jolly gang.

We’ll keep you posted as to when the show will be screened on the BBC.

Neither ‘I Love My Country’ nor ‘The Voice’ are Endemol formats or productions. They are both Talpa formats.
