Britain’s Got Talent 2012 live shows: Dalek Martyn Crofts performs Street Tuff (VIDEO)
Martyn Crofts was certainly one of the more unique acts who was featured on the recent Britain’s Got Talent audition shows and a nice change for those viewers who have been vocal about the dominance of singing and dancing acts once more this year.
The building society worker impressed the judges with his strange routine, which involved him wearing a saucepan on his head and singing while impersonating a Dalek.
This evening the hopeful performed the 1990 hit song ‘Street Tuff,’ by Rebel MC and & Double Trouble. And to show that ITV are throwing money hand over fist at this show, Martyn is sporting a full diamanté saucepan tonight, complete with rubber balls stuck to his suit. Sadly, he was flanked by cheap-ass Daleks that looked more like overgrown cheesegraters or those Mash characters from the ads in the 80s.
Even Martyn seemed to have lost enthusiasm for the act tonight, and Simon Cowell buzzed him out of – presumably – sheer boredom. The highlight of the performance was Alesha and Amanda wearing saucepans on their heads. The good news is that Martyn will be opening Skipton Gala, so if his BGT dream ends, there’s always a silver lining. For him. Not necessarily the people of Skipton.
- ALESHA DIXON: I never thought I’d see a rapping Dalek. I want the bling version. Who blinged your version? I think you’re starting a new trend.
- AMANDA HOLDEN: There are millions of Doctor Who fans across the world. They could make you trend across the world. They could get you through to the final.
- SIMON COWELL: Arguably the most stupid act I’ve ever seen on this show. I don’t know what those things are behind you. I’m urging Doctor Who fans not to put you through. At the end of the day, we’ve got to write a cheque for half a million pounds and put an act in front of the Royal Family.
- DAVID WALLIAMS: I think you’ve exterminated all the opposition in this competition. It was incredible. It was moving. It brought a tear to my eye. I think people at home are going to be crying too.
