Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Paul Potts says Jonathan Antoine & Charlotte Jaconelli have “great potential”
BGT star Paul Pottshas revealed that he believes opera singers Jonathan Antoineand partner Charlotte Jaconellihave “great potential” and that they “make a great team.”
As fans of BGT will know, during their first audition, Simon Cowell told Jonathan that he should “dump” Charlotte, but loyal Jonathan refused, and rightly so.
However, after their performance in the semi-finals, a repentant Simon told Jonathan he’d made the right decision, and he told Charlotte that she has “a beautiful voice.”
In today’s TV Biz, Paul – who’s enjoyed a busy career singing since his triumphant appearances on BGT – said, “I think that both Jonathon and Charlotte have great voices.
“Jonathon has a great baritonal quality to his voice which is unusual in one so young…
“He has great potential [and] I think that Charlotte has proved her worth this week.
“After Simon suggested that Jonathon progress on his own, there was a lot of pressure on Charlotte’s performance and she nailed it.
“Ultimately, Charlotte and Jonathon’s future is in their own hands, and I think it should be their decision. I hope they stick together as they are a great team.
“There aren’t many if any duos in the classical crossover genre and that would make them unique, which is very important in a crowded market.”
And with regard to some of the criticism that’s hounded Jonathan about his looks and weight, Paul reassured, “He needs to be comfortable with himself, no matter what happens in the future.
“He should only change if he feels the need for it and if he is the driver of it.”
