Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Stephen Mulhern admits Simon Cowell told David Walliams ‘I’m the king and you’re the court jester!’

Stephen Mulhern has admitted that Simon Cowell took the time recently to explain to Britain’s Got Talent newcomer David Walliams, exactly what his place was on the show.

The Little Britain funnyman joined the judging panel of the ITV show earlier this year and has been a huge hit with fans since the series kicked off last month.

Britain’s Got More Talent star Stephen confessed that while at the minute Walliams and Cowell sit at opposite ends of the judging table, the comedian is keen to change things for the live shows.

He told The Sun’s TV Buzz:

“David is desperate to sit next to Simon Cowell on the panel but Simon’s having none of it. I think he’s getting worried about the live shows because he won’t be able to edit David’s behaviour.”

Stephen admitted that he wasn’t sure how David would fit in, when he first joined Simon, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the panel, but his doubts have since been put to rest. He said:

“When I first heard that David was joining BGT I didn’t know what to expect but having him be cheeky with Simon has lifted everything. He’s fearless. Simon told David recently: ‘What you must always remember is that I’m the king and you’re the court jester!’”

Meanwhile, Mulhern confessed that he was recently on a mission to find singleton, Declan Donnelly, a girlfriend, but has failed so far.

“It’s not going well,” admitted Stephen, “I think the boy is cursed! We had a dwarf – Peter – on the first show and even dressed him as a girl for Dec, but nothing seems to work. I’m battling on, though. I’ll help him any way I can.”

But Stephen’s one gripe with this year’s series is that it’s been pitted against rival talent show, The Voice UK. He’s not a happy bunny and admitted:

“I’ve spoken to Holly Willoughby about the time overlap between BGT and The Voice UK. The only people who miss out are the viewers. It doesn’t need to happen.”

It won’t be a problem for much longer, as Simon has decided to move the ITV show to a later time slot to avoid the weekly clash!
