Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Stephen Mulhern admits that The Mend already have a huge (and screaming) fanbase!

Stephen Mulhern has claimed that if the amount of screaming girls following them are anything to go by, then boyband The Mend have a big career in front of them.

The Britain’s Got More Talent host was impressed when the former X Factor contestants showed up to audition for BGT earlier this year and were tailed by a crowd of enthusiastic ladies.

The Mend’s audition was featured on Saturday night’s show and after they performed a funky version of Otis Redding’s ‘Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay’, new mum Amanda Holden raved:

“I completely loved you. I loved that song choice. I did not expect that at all, the new spin on it.”

It seems that she isn’t their only female fan though and speaking on This Morning today, Stephen added:

“They are going to do alright and the girls outside! Already they have got a fanbase.”

Mulhern is obviously a fan and went on to explain that he thinks, judging by the response they have received so far, The Mend are ‘here to stay.’ He continued:

“There is something about this boyband, we have seen them come and go but I think The Mend are here to stay. They are very, very good. They have been together for three years, they are very tight, they can really sing and they are like a classy East 17.”

The four piece boyband made it as far as X Factor bootcamp last year, but were eliminated when it emerged that they had a management deal in place already.

However, they have claimed that they are glad to have been axed from the other show, as they feel BGT is a better fit for their band and they preferred singing for the main man, Simon Cowell.
