Britain’s Got Talent 2012: The Mend will sing tonight instead of Sugar Dandies & BGT viewing figures beat The Voice again!
On tonight’s live edition of BGT, X Factor boy band The Mend are replacing the Sugar Dandies, who were previously billed to be performing live tonight.
The band broke the news via Twitter, telling fans, “Tune in tomorrow for live semi finals!! Biggest show of our lives!! #VoteTheMend #FamilyMenders”
And the bosses of the ITV show are doubtless hoping that the viewing figures for BGT continue to grow, given that last night, for the second time, Britain’s Got Talent managed to lure more viewers than BBC1’s The Voice UK.
BGT managed to land a very respectable 9.5 million viewers when it aired at 8.40pm, which made a total of 9.8 million when +1 viewers were added to the figures.
However, The Voice on BBC1 only managed an average audience of 8.2 million, which, yet again, is a loss of more than a million viewers. The show had 9.3 million the previous week…
It’s thought that many of the viewers of BGT tuned in to learn the fate of fan favourite Ryan O’Shaughnessy, who we saw axed from the show last night because he was contracted to Universal due to his appearance on The Voice of Ireland.
However, rather sportingly in my opinion, The Voice of Ireland and Universal have now released Ryan from his contract, so BGT’s bosses who have allowed him through to the live semi-finals.
A show spokeswoman said, “Ryan has now been released from his contract with Universal.”
And while that may be rather short and to the point, it’s good news for Ryan and his fans!
