We all know that Simon Cowell and David Walliams have a special kind of relationship that nobody else has… mainly because it’s so sodding weird. But, earlier this week the funny man (yes, we mean David) virtually saved Simon Cowell’s life!
Now, that may very well be over the top and it most likely is, but apparently, David swooped into the rescue when Simon Cowell started choking… on a mint!
According to a source from The ICC in Birmingham, Cowell was “enjoying a mint” when it slipped down the wrong hole and he started coughing and spluttering on the panel.
Amanda was quick to just whack Cowell on the back, but David being David took the chance to wrap his arms around Cowell and perform the Heimlich Manoeuvre.
The source said told the Mirror Online: “In between watching the auditions Simon was enjoying a mint when all of a sudden it must have got lodged in his throat. He started coughing and spluttering very badly until Amanda and David stepped in.
“As Amanda sits next to Simon, she immediately started hitting him on the back to try and dislodge the mint.
“And despite them bickering during auditions, as soon as David noticed his Simon was in trouble, he leapt up from his chair to help. He put his all into giving him the Heimlich Manoeuvre and seemed to be enjoying it a little too much, while Simon on the other hand looked uneasy, although he was grateful to David for helping him out.
“Thankfully, the mint got dislodged and Simon was able to continue but he was a bit flustered for the next few auditions. He owes David his life now!”
We reckon David jumped at the chance of being able to wrap his arms around his Simon!
But, Cowell has had quite the time at the Britain’s Got Talent auditions this year as he had a near miss with an 11-year-old knife thrower just the other day as well. Eggs are so last year…
