Britain’s Got Talent 2013: Favourite Alice Fredenham was rejected by The Voice!

As we reported earlier, singer Alice Fredenham went down a storm with the judges and the audience when she auditioned for the new series of Britain’s Got Talent, and though of course BGT 2013 doesn’t launch until tonight at 7pm on ITV1, she’s already been named as a hot favourite to win the show…

However, it’s been revealed this morning that rival talent quest The Voice rejected her during the blind auditions stage.

And of course, she’s not the first singer that the BBC let slip through their fingers and right into Simon Cowell’s given that last year’s X Factor winner James Arthur was also rejected by The Voice!

The Sun’s TV Biz reports, “Beauty therapist Alice, 28, closes tonight’s first episode of the hit ITV talent show with a sultry performance of My Funny Valentine.”

Of The Voice rejecting Alice, a BBC1 source said, “The Voice prides itself on its high standards, and yet again BGT is taking the show’s rejects.”

O dear, those sour grapes must really regurgitate eh?

And for all the bravado and bluff of that BBC insider, the fact remains that Aunty Beeb blinked first and moved The Voice from its usual Saturday night timeslot of 6.45pm to 8.30pm in order to avoid going head-to-head with BGT in the viewer ratings.

That said, TV listings websites are still showing The Voice as airing at 6,45pm, so I’m a tad confused. But there, that’s nothing new…

Here’s a reminder of some BGT Push the Buzzer action…

Loved Arixstrando but thought the song choice was inappropriate for an 11 year old girl

  2. Andy says:

I really enjoyed her performance and loved her voice but thought she’d never done anything like this before and had turned up on her own because she didn’t want to let anyone down. Maybe I’m becoming cynical in my old age but I sense another Christopher Maloney in the making here!! Please please make these shows about the talent not the sob story!!!

  3. Sophie Langan says:

Alice Fredanham has beautiful voice and I hope she makes the final.

At aged 82 and studied at the Guildhall, may I say that this was one of the most moving performances and rendition of this song I have ever heard. Her ability to demonstrate the depths of a woman’s love- that men never grasp, was outstanding.
I do hope she continues in the same manner, and does not become all tarted up! her talents lay in the ability to interpret love songs very well, and there are so many more out there that she will be able to put across to us in her profoundly personal way.
