Britain’s Got Talent 2013: Simon Cowell wants Frank Sinatra’s My Way played at his funeral!
Simon announced the news during a recent Britain’s Got Talent audition in Birmingham after a wannabe sang the hit.
He told fellow judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams, “I’ve decided I’d like it to be played at my funeral.
“It would be appropriate.”`
The Sun adds, “Contestants on the receiving end of his harsh words may also recognise the sentiment in the final verse: ‘To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels, the record shows I took the blows and did it my way.’”
Simon’s always been a big fan of Sinatra, and apparently, he asked for a “singing hologram” of Frank to play at his 50th birthday party. And as fans may recall, My Way played in the background during Simon’s ‘best bits’ when he left American Idol.
But of course, Simon is just one of many who choose to have My Way as their swan song, and a recent survey discovered that as many as one in seven funeral services feature the hit track.
However, on with more revelations about Simon, and during the same round of auditions, he also confessed that he used to wear Spiderman and Captain Scarlet PJs when he was little.
That admission reportedly came after a wannabe appeared on stage dressed as a comic book character. However, the reminiscing didn’t last long – nor the sentimentality over Sinatra – and when judge David was handed a motorbike made out of balloons by a hopeful magician, Simon popped one of the balloons.
David told him, “You have shown everyone your true colours by spoiling the fun.”
Bless! Here’s a look at one of last year’s BGT auditions…
