Music mogul Simon Cowell has begun this year’s war of words with the BBC’s The Voice, saying that they’re “silly” if they don’t reschedule the show to air in a different timeslot…
And that’s because Simon reckons viewers will switch off The Voice and instead, tune in to the new series of Britain’s Got Talent.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Simon said, “I think it would be silly if we went up against The Voice – they lost out in the end.”
The paper adds, “In last year’s ratings war, the Saturday night talent shows overlapped, with The Voice winning more fans at first…
“But the BBC’s early claims of victory soon faded when The Voice’s viewers turned off in their millions.”
Simon continued, “The trouble is you dilute the viewers and the viewers in the end miss out on that.
“I don’t think it will happen again. I’d guess that it is them who will budge and not us.”
BGT judge Alesha Dixon added, “I’m confident we will beat The Voice in the ratings.
“I didn’t watch it last time so I probably shouldn’t be so confident without checking out the competition but our show feels so strong this year.”
If the two shows do end up in direct competition for viewers, which would you watch and which would you record?
For now, here’s a look at Simon talking about this year’s BGT…
