Tonight we heard the sad news that Amanda Holden had lost her unborn baby.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge had been seven months pregnant with a baby boy, but visited hospital on Tuesday when she realised she hadn’t felt the tot move for a day or so.

She was extra cautious, because she suffered a miscarriage when she fell pregnant last year and a friend has revealed that Holden was distraught when a scan revealed her baby was no longer alive. She then had to deliver the baby, who was said to look ‘absolutely perfect.’

A close friend told The News Of The World:

“They’re crushed. The baby looked absolutely perfect, beautiful.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for them. And right now the doctors can’t find a reason why it happened. Amanda and Chris are waiting on the results of tests which may shed some light on the tragedy.

“Amanda went to hospital as a precaution because she hadn’t felt the baby move since the Monday.”

Their spokesman tonight released a statement saying: “It is with immense sadness that Amanda and Chris confirm today that they have lost their baby boy. They’re utterly devastated.”

Amanda only publicly revealed her pregnancy last month and admitted that she had kept it secret from everyone, including her mum, because she was worried that she would miscarry again.

Talking about the first tragedy, the actress and mum to five year old daughter Lexi said:

“It was a fortnight before the Britain’s Got Talent Finals and something went wrong.

“I have such a charmed and lovely life and I just never imagined I would miscarry a baby. Never. You never think it might happen to you.

“It was without doubt the blackest period of my life. But I’m glad we hadn’t made a big announcement.

“That allowed us to deal with it privately. So many women go through it, you hear about it and think ‘Oh, bless you’, then move on. . . you don’t realise what people go through until you suffer yourself.”
