Andrew is a 13 year old singer from Carlisle. He has been a classical singer since the age of six and sings with the Carlisle Cathedral Choir. His hero is Aled Jones and he hopes to be as big as him one day.
Andrew has been singing at Carlisle Cathedral since he was 7 because his primary teacher said he had a good voice. Mr Suter (his Choirmaster) gave him his audition and he’s been there ever since.
There have been times when Andrew has wanted to quit because of peer pressure and bullying but he’s had the kindness, discipline and safety of the Cathedral to help him through. He’s had so many wonderful times at choir and he so wanted to be head chorister and that’s what he has now achieved by sticking with it and it was a very proud moment for him.
Despite being bullied for singing in a choir Andrew wants the chance to prove that his talent is not something to be ashamed off.
Judges Comments:
No buzzes three Yes’s from the Judges
Amanda – I promised myself I wouldn’t cry but I was just mesmerised. You could knock all those bullies out with your voice. Congratulations.
Piers – School bullies don’t like it, that you have more talent than they could dream of. You look like a star and have a good chance of winning Britain’s Got Talent.
Simon – You’re better than you think you are. You’re good, but now you’re in the adult world I want to see confidence and self belief.

Is it possible that what this young lad mistakingly calls bullying is just teasing from the boys in school. Bullying in my eyes is being pressurised to giving your lunch money up, or giving away something you’d like to keep, being beaten or jeered into fights etc. Being cornered and frightened that something nasty is going to happen to you. Being threatened that someone is going to get you.
I think this lad has problems understanding what bullying is and his parents have not agreed that this is happening.
So I’d love to see an end to this story as it seems to have no substance.
The boy has a voice and for a few more months or maybe 18 months - 2 years if lucky this voice will be with him, let us enjoy that and put the story on the back burner unless of course it is true than maybe the programme could look into it and do something about it.
