The Boogie Babes are a group of young girls who attend Stepping Stones School of Dance in Appleby, Cumbria. They were put together specifically to be a street dance troupe representing the school in competitions. Once a year they put on a local show to 600 people. Their teacher, Andrea Stones, owns the dance school and choreographed their dances. She regrets not making it as a dancer when she was younger, so she lives through the kids and their performances and tries to give them as many opportunities as possible (i.e. Britain’s Got Talent). The kids, in return, absolutely love her.
The Boogie Babes rehearse three times a week on top of their dance classes and are a very close-knit and confident group.
Appleby is a really small town, and everyone in the surrounding area likes to get involved in fundraising events for the dance school, as there is hardly anything else around there for kids to do. Consequently, most of the girls in the area attend the dance school, go to the same schools and have known each-other for most of their lives.
Judges Comments:
No buzzers and three yes’s
Amanda – We’ve had a few girl groups, you were so slick and professional you did yourselves proud.
Piers – I didn’t really like it, I loved it. We’ve seen millions of groups, great, loved it.
Simon – I don’t think it’s the best we’ve seen. Some parts were fun, the middle was like synchronised swimming. Personality and outfits were great. You’ll do well in the competition.
