Britain’s Got Talent: Christopher Stone taunted by music hating bullies
Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Christopher Stone has revealed that he was taunted by bullies throughout his school years, because he loved music so much.
28 year old Chris, who has been dubbed the ‘Singing Accountant’ impressed Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan on Saturday night’s show with his rendition of ‘Maria’ from West Side Story (video here). Talking about his past, the singer told The Sun that thugs made his teenage years hell, by tormenting him and calling him a ‘poof’ because of his vocal skills.
H said: “I was bullied from day one until the day I left. Day in, day out.
“It started off being physical and became mental afterwards – but the mental bullying was worse by far.
“Bruises heal but the pain from mental bullying doesn’t just go away.”
“You start to think to yourself, ‘Am I really an awful person? Am I that bad that people don’t like me?’ You start to doubt yourself and think you deserve it.
“They called me a girl, a poof, all sorts of things. I liked music, I was a freak – that’s what they thought.
“I don’t want to wallow in it. It’s not about that, but it was difficult. People who know me know what I went through.”
Distraught by his son’s ordeal, Christopher’s dad Malcolm sold his home in order to send him to the acclaimed Chetham School of Music in Manchester.
Christopher said: “I loved it there. I’d gone from a school where I was very much singled out and bullied to a place where I was absolutely so happy, and full of joy.
“People were finally like me and it was wonderful to share music. I owe everything to my dad.”
Unfortunately Chris later dropped out of the school. He told The Daily Star:
“When I was 20, I dropped out of music school because I could no longer afford the fees. Now this is my big chance to follow my dream again.”
