In Britain’s Got Talent tomorrow night, 18 year old Dean Wilson from Middlesborogh is going to be performing an extract from Miss Saigon for the Judges today. Dean lives with his single Mum Sharon and he has a real passion for musical theatre, but growing up in Middlesborogh he’s grown up in a world where he’s not able to show off his talent as Dean explains, “I didn’t want to tell the people at school about my singing and dancing as I thought they’d probably think I was a bit girly and say I should be doing boxing and football, but that’s not for me, I just want to perform on a stage. Dancing and Singing has been my only love, this competition means the world to me I want to fulfil my dream where I can perform in front of millions”.

Walking out on stage to lots of wolf whistles from the girls, Dean starts his performance, singing and acting Why God Why? from Miss Saigon, but just as Dean is getting into his stride Simon stops his performance because, “I hate that song”.

Simon asks Dean if he has an alternative song prepared, but Dean’s not bought any other tracks with him, and with the audience chanting “sing it sing it”, Simon backs down and lets Dean start again. Dean gives a hugely passionate performance, even leaping off the stage at one point and singing right in front of the Judges desk, much to Amanda’s delight.

As Dean gets to the end of his performance the whole theatre, including Piers and Amanda give Dean a standing ovation. Piers declares that, “that was a tour de force performance by you” and Amanda croons that “I could see the passion and the hunger in you”, but will Simon, who’s obviously not a fan of Miss Saigon see the star potential in Dean?
