Hoping to make a good impression on the Judges on tomorrow night’s Britain’s Got Talent, is 52 year old singer Emma Czikai from Sutton Coldfield. She describes her singing voice as “completely unique it’s my sound, there is no one out there who sounds like me. I do have the ability to move people, which is rare, people have cried when they’ve heard me sing” And Emma knows this is her opportunity to shine and make her name in music, “There are a lot of people out there making music who shouldn’t be making music because they are out of tune and have terrible voices, if I got the same break I could do just as good as them”.
As Emma comes out on stage Simon asks her if she believes she has the ability to win the competition, and a very confident Emma replies, “Oh Simon I’m wonderful, you will go home and think I am so glad I met that woman”.
As the track starts and Emma sings the first two words of You Raise Me Up Simon instantly buzzes, prompting Emma to shout “I knew you’d do that, let me start again, that was rotten, I’m not taking your buzz Simon”. So the track restarts, and once again Simon buzzes after the first word, resulting in Emma insisting that the track is started again, too much jeers off the audience and they get her backlash too “shut up” she shouts at them. So third time lucky for Emma but before she can finish the first verse all the Judges have buzzed, “how do you think that went Emma?” asks Simon, “I think it would be really nice if you gave people a chance. This song is a really lovely song”. “I agree” says Simon, “it is a beautiful song when you’re not singing it”. But Emma is not going to take it lying down, blaming the levels on the backing track and the microphone, which she’s not used too. With Simon delivering a reality check, “it’s not the music or the microphone it’s you” it looks like Emma’s dream of becoming the next big recording artist is in tatters.
