Britains Got Talent: Flava Give Hoodies A Good Name!

The last act of the day is dance group Flava from Cornwall, headed up by 18 year old Kyle Richardson and his choreographer Mum Fiona. As Fiona explains, “Kyle started up the group four years ago just wanting to do something with the lads and have a mess around and I saw a real potential in them and they started taking it more seriously, invited some girls in and after entering some local competitions with really good results it all took off from there.”

For Flava dancing means everything, as Kyle explains, ”dance has boosted our confidence and it helps to make friends, we love it”. And the group wanted to share the good that has come out of it with the young people in their area, “as well as competing we do a lot of work with kids, going into schools and giving demonstrations, we want them to look up to us, by positive role models and hopefully give them the opportunities we’ve had. But what we do in Cornwall is not enough we put 110% into this team and we want to make it go far”.

Dressed in their black hoodies the six strong team start their unique street dance routine. All the Judges are impressed with Amanda declaring them “the best we’ve seen” and Simon has a more serious point to make, “You have done one thing incredible, you’ve just made hoodies acceptable. I love that you have done it yourself, you are raw talent and you are as good as what I’ve seen in America. There a lot of people getting a hard time in this country at the moment, particularly young people and I just think you are an incredible representation of the good that is out there”. So is Flava’s dream of spreading their positive message through dance onto step closer to reality?

Absolutely breathtaking. The masked start to the routine was so robotic and incredibly put together as a stylish routine and then we got to see the amazing dancing that followed it.

I really hope that Flava wins the competition and that I can get to see them live someday.

Can’t wait to see the next routine on BGT. Keep up the good work guys and a huge congratulations to Kyle & Fiona for all the hard work that they have put into this incredible group.

  16. Mandy Says:

I am so annoyed Flava did not get through, I have stolen the below from a webpage but its so true:

“Flava would have been a positive reflection of young people today. In a time of hoodies, ASBO’s and gang related violence, it would be great for the country to see these admirable young people taking steps toward a goal.”

Simone is just thinking of himself incase ‘The Royal family’ do not approve of what act he has supplied them with, we all know its true Simon gets the final word on what happens.

I think Flava are great they are an insperation on what life is about these days.

What an insperation, I mean the cheeky kids was cute, but come on they are kids they dont inspire me!

If you loved Flava you must watch Honey, Step up and You got served they are my fav films, and are all about people like Flava!

I think the Royal Family should have seen Flava then maybe they could help build places for people like them to go, as I have no doubt that will dramaticly drop crime rates.

I am so sorry Flava lost they was great and I have actualyl wrote to Simone Cowell tellign him he is a fool including print outs of people that have wrote about how great Flava was!

    I love you Flava!

  17. Mandy Says:

  18. Shona Says:

I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD BE TOLD ABOUT THE TRUTH OF FLAVA. HIS MUM THE CHOREOGRAPHER HAD STOLEN CHOREOGRAPHY FROM THE AMERICAN DANCE GROUP THE JABBAWOKIEEZ! THEY SHOULDNT OF BEEN ALOWED ON BRITAINS GOT TALENT AT ALL. AND SHOULDNT BE TAKING CREDIT FOR OTHER PEOPLES HARD WORK. LOTS OF PEOPLE ON YOUTUBE HAVE THE SAME OPINION AS ME, IF YOU DONT BELIVE ME TYPE JABBAWOKIEEZ ON YOUTUBE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. .
