Children (and a lot of adults) will be in for a thrilling start of the autumn, as David Walliams has announced his new book will be released September.

David Tweeted: “It’s coming… My new children’s novel is called ‘Demon Dentist’.” to his excited fans.

“Demon Dentist is my very first horror story, with an unspeakably evil villainess at its centre. I hope children of all ages will love the new book’s combination of chills, action and of course comedy.”

By David (2)Harper Collins says: “Demon Dentist is a jaw-achingly funny and teeth-chatteringly thrilling tale about an evil dentist who has an over-the-top devotion to teeth extractions and how one special boy and his dreamer dad finally stand up to this drilling-crazed villain.”

Talking about the book, Ann-Janine Murtagh, Publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books, said, “David is on top form with this gloriously original and flamboyantly dark new tale. With all the hallmarks of a Walliams classic, David’s imaginative flair takes readers on an epic adventure with a super-villain so rotten, fans will get hooked from page one.”

David Walliams has now sold over two million books in the UK alone. Following the incredible success of the TV adaption of Mr Stink, record breaking book Gangsta Granny will also be made into a comedy drama and is scheduled to be broadcast at Christmas by the BBC. David will also publish his first picture book later this year.

David has started rehearsals for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ today, telling co star Sheridan Smith last night: “Are you ready for our first rehearsal day for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ tomorrow? I have learned all the lines, have you?”

Demon Dentist will be published September 26 2013, and you can pre-order it here.

For now, here’s a look at David’s recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show…
