Britain’s Got Talent: Merlin Cadogan the New Houdini?

With the auditions moving to Cardiff on tomorrow night’s Britain’s Got Talent show, there is one thing Simon has definitely not seen enough of from the auditions, a “dangerous act” with the potential to kill/severely harm themselves! But hopefully Merlin Cadogan from Bideford Devon, who hopes he has a death defying act that will deliver everything Simon dreams of.

Dressed in very tight union jack shorts and a very attractive blue velvet cape Merlin promises “the most dangerous trick that has ever been done on the show and if it goes wrong I could die from it”, just what Simon wanted!

As Merlin explains, “I escape from 10 meters of chain and I juggle fire under water, I want to be the modern day Houdini”. With his assistant on stage Merlin places an old school style metal diving helmet on his head and his assistant ties his hands together with 10 meters of padlocked chain and then proceeds to fill his helmet with water to the brim, leaving Merlin only minutes to release himself from the chains and juggle with fire all before he runs out of breath. But Simon, who loves death defying acts buzzes Merlin, “I think you just looked stupid with that thing on your head… how extreme could this go?”, “I could die” responds Merlin, which seems to cheer Simon up, but will it change his mind and will Merlin make it through to the next round?
