Britain’s Got Talent: Philip Grimmer starts legal action against Simon Cowell

Britain’s Got Talent reject Philip Grimmer has launched a lawsuit against Simon Cowell.

The 56 year old singer made it to the Britain’s Got Talent semi finals last Spring, after previously auditioning as Kylie in 2007. After he performed Hung Up by Madonna, Simon Cowell tore Phillip’s efforts apart saying:

“Madonna at 95 would look better and dance better than you.”

Though he did add:

“Listen since Amanda and Piers put you through to this round, I am actually urging the British public to put you through to the finals so that these two can present you to the Royal family and they can have front row seats.”

Mr Grimmer has now started legal action and a spokeswoman for Central London Employment Tribunal said that he claims his exit from the show could be classed as unfair dismissal.

In legal papers submitted to the Central London Employment Tribunal, Mr Grimmer, from Ilford, said: “I was discriminated against by Simon Cowell and the two presenters Ant and Dec and by one of the assistant producers. I was singled out by these persons and received unfair and worse treatment and comments on the live TV show than other contestants.”

A tribunal spokeswoman said: “We received the claim on August 4. His claim was about unfair dismissal, in the remit of employment law, was on the basis that his audition was the equivalent of a job interview.”
