Britain’s Got Talent: Shaun Smith Was Not All That
Shaun Smith performed on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent and I’m still not sure why he got a standing ovation.
Shaun is a seventeen year old rugby player, who granted, has a nice singing voice. In his audition for the three judges he sang Ain’t No Sunshine’ and at one point I was sure the audience were listening to something different to me. Shaun can sing, in fact he is a pretty good singer, but he certainly wasn’t amazing. He lacked the wow factor and I’m really convinced that he got through to the next round because the judges thought he had ‘the look.’
People have been saying that Shaun could rival Susan Boyle. I just don’t see that happening.

I am a true Susan Boyle fan. However, Shaun Smith has “the look” and that makes him a contender for the 1st prize. He is an absolutely adorable 17 y/o heart throb that will have many young girls going ga-ga. He is exactly what Simon Cowell looks for.
I think that Shaun Smith is amazing. He wasn’t as wowing as susan Boyle ok, but i mean he’s got talent and an incredible voice, plus the fact he is unbelivably GOURGEOUS ! hes deffinatley my heart throb and i might even like him more than JLS ! i think i might get tickets to the final, if he’s in it, just because of him ! as sooon as i saw him i knew he was going to be amazing, hes very all rounded, what with his rugby talent as well. Every girls dream man ?

i totally agree with robert, if u think shaun smiths voice was nothing special u have a hearing problem…susan boyle doesnt need to win..shes already famous and can sing records easy. shaun needs it because he is young and original.

Shaun Smith is better than Susan Boyle.. Sure Susan Boyle has a stronger voice but well she doesnt exactly have the nicest tone.. If Susan Boyle was pretty, then no one would care about her and she probably wouldnt win. Competitions like this have gone crazy, everyones saying how someone shouldnt win just cause they have ‘the look’ but now people are just discriminating against people who do. I suggest that people close their eyes when the listen to Shaun. I did and was surprised to hear that he wasn’t that good after all. Anyone who thinks that looks do not influence our opinion is just kidding themselves.

I agree with Robert – get yourself to a ENT clinic, Lisa. If that doesn’t help, I suggest you review your suitability as a music commenatator as you may find you’re not as musical as you seem to think you are. – This guy, Mr Shaun Smith, is gorgeous and gifted – pure and simple. I feel certain his performance on BGT has set this guy off on his way to stardom. He’s made for the stage, so if if he so wills it, he’s had it made.
Oh yes he was “All that”. His voice is beautiful. It passed the goose bumps test for me. I think he is just a his beginnings. Yes Simon it was part of his appeal. I loved Susan Boyle but…If one has to win let it be Shaun. I want to hear him sing some of the classic songs with lasting value. He would make them new and fresh.
P.S. I’m finding that I agree with Simon more and more and know exactly what he is thinking of. Go Simon…Go Shaun

Shaun Smith is absolutly gawjuss!! Last year George Sampson was by far the ‘hottie’ of the show but this year it definatly has to be Shaun Smith!! Shaun should win Britains Got Talent because he has everything, great voice, great looks, and could win this show!! Love you loads Shaun <3
i think that shaun is great and he has a very good voice and i feel that there is better singers but he is a good singer he will give them a run for there money so i recon that it will be close x
i think he can sing and has got the look, susan boyle is certainly amazing, and she has no competition really, but i think you shouldn’t be downing shaun either way,

More like you were listening to somebody else. he’s amazing! his voice is briiliant and he’s just so gorgeous! Love love love him!! Susan Boyle will probs win yeah but still i love Shaun. He’s just such a lovely guy and he has this brilliantly natural talent. He got a standing ovation because he deserved one. I will always love him no matter what anybody else says.
i think shaun is fantastic. and thats not just because im a 17 year old girl who fancies him. i think he has an incredible voice, and i think exactly the same about susan she’s brilliant. if they let singers through because they have “the look” it would be the same for everyone, and sorry but susan boyle did NOT get through because she was good looking, she got through because she has a personality and so does shaun.

I think it is unfair that Shaun got through last night Piers was right its about Variety and Gareth provided variety Shaun however just fell into teh singer catagory of which teh royal variety show see’s plenty. You may all say but what about Susan Boyle, and teh diffrence is she is a musical theatre singer and as such not a pop singer so would flop on x factor. So what if Shaun said he didn think he could win x factor he should have tried. I honestly hope a pop singer does not win. yeah he can sing but he aint teh best. heis just liek all the otehr lads his age that can sing well. only difrence is becuase he is on telly every1 raves about him.
Also Shaun would be able to find success without the show people such as teh dancers and Susan would strugle to get noticed without the show. i think it was unfair last nyt
I am a 45 years old from far-east country, I just check the VDO show by chance and found all those competitors from BGT ..I have to say that I would love this guy to win the most..Not sure how to describe the word “Talent” but I can watch his VDO over&over for whole days more than 200 times now with smiles..It is amazing and you can feel life every unit from his voice especially ” Ain’t no sunshine”..I could not watch VDO from any others same this one whatever good show they said..I love him as one of the most beautiful message from above, He got them all…It’s a life

I dont see why people were so excited over shaun compared to Susan, Shaheen and Holly he cannot be on the same level, actually compared to all the acts i would say shaun was at the bottom of the list!!!

Okay, so Susan Boyle was an amazing shock the 1st time we saw her, and she does have an incredible voice, but i think that after a while the novelty of the Scottish spinster will wear off… she’s good but is she jsy another classical singer. Shaun Smith has a fantastic voice, and one that people are really listening to, especially at the moment, he’s got that quirky edge, the amazing voice, and the looks…
funny that is as if more people were listening to shuan then how come susan boyle has more hits on youtube ? and clealry got more votes ? i didn’t see shaun in the top 3. and susan is not just anotehr classical singer, she is teh opposite of your avarge classical singer, where as shaun is just anotehr pop singer that is 17, he falls inline with all teh young lads that sing he aint ntn special, if he was hed have got mroe votes !

i think that he was amazing and has a really good voice if someone that young could risk his rugby future and his friends wins my respect and i think that its so wrong of you to down someone because they look good susan got as far as she did because shes a good singer but so is shaun he didnt get it given to him and maybe she got through out of pitty if she was better looking then we as a British nation would not think that she was thar great do you think shes getting all this publicaty because shes outstanding noooo. shahen was outstanding and he isnt talked as mucch as she was she good but thats all. but thats only my opinion
regardless of looks susan would be considered a good singer, her act stands out as she is a west end singer, a musical theatre style – NOT A POP SINGER such as shaun. She gets the publicity cas narrow minded stars such as Lilly Allen go critise her in the paper unduly – to say she was being silly wiggling about on stage is stupid. I tell you this if i was her age n from a small village and found myself on britatins got talents id wiggle 4 joy and id be just as exited as she was if not more.
Clearly it isnt pity that got her that far, the american’s haev also warmed to her. Im not putting shaun down just simpley saying that he wasnt outstanding yes he was good, but put him on x factor he is no better than anyother lads his age that can sing. when thy play teh clipping back of teh show his dosent jump out. For the sinple reason he is just anotehr pop singer for all teh little teent bopers 2 rave about. Where as singers like susan and 2 grand were diffrent.
Ad for Shaheen yes he was good, but he will make it regardless as that was a young man with talent, although if id been to stage school id expect to be bale to sing to some dgree although im not knocking him as he was good
Shaun would make a good pub singer but we are talking about britains got talent here and compared to acts like susan, diversity and shaheen he does not stand a chance.
Diversity were the best Shaun Smith was least favorite.

Susan was brilliant last night really nice comments, well done to diversity they were amazing and deserved to win, Shaheen’s performace was soooo amazing that boy is so talented its unreal how amazing he is, he will really get very far not just an amazing voice, but mature and positive personality and attitude he is a true star well done to him, stavros were so funny they were the best, flawless really started the show well they will achieve amazingly i wish them luck, holly really shined yesterday amazing performance well done and julian ended the show amazingly he is very talented.
I think you’re just jealous. He is so obviously a VERY good singer who also has the look. He is gorgeous which probably gained him a lot of votes which is fair play but Susan Boyle obviously got so much credit beacuse she doesn’t have the look but she has the voice so people were shocked. Shaun has the look and an amazing voice. He truly deserved the reactions that he got from both the audience and the judges. And let’s be honest, Simon Cowell obviously knows more about who can and can’t sing than you you critics do. I hope Shaun goes far.

hmm funny taht simon is in talks with susan and not shaun then he has said she stand to make 8000000 a yr n is in charge of the rights to her and what she does.
She is the only 1 he has on board so far
