Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell ‘Carmen Electra didn’t get on great with David Walliams and Alesha Dixon’
Simon Cowell has admitted that Carmen Electra was not a big hit with her fellow judges, when she joined the Britain’s Got Talent panel in London earlier this year.
The former Baywatch star joined the lineup in February, when regular panellist Amanda Holden was on maternity leave….all two weeks of it!
Speaking at yesterday’s Britain’s Got Talent press conference, Cowell confessed that while he loved working with the American star, she hadn’t made such a great impression on David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.
Asked why he hired the blonde beauty for the job, Cowell joked:
“She has the best set of….teeth that I have ever seen!”
On a more serious note the TV boss added:
“I met Carmen in America, I really, really liked her, I like the idea of bringing an American over because you see the show from an American perspective. Which actually makes it quite funny.”
He continued:
“She’s an actress…”
But David took exception to this claim and hit back:
“But is she? She’s been in Baywatch!”
Cowell laughed but defended Carmen adding:
“Yes she is, that was one of the biggest TV shows in the world!”
Simon went on:
“She didn’t get on great with David and Alesha…She didn’t know who they were.”
Alesha insisted that the fault didn’t lie with her, and told reporters that she had tried to get on with Electra.
“We tried, we did try,” she laughed, adding:
“Our names were in big bold letters, but she didn’t know them.”
Amanda Holden watched the debate with delight and is obviously glad that Cowell chose someone so unpopular to take her place. She giggled:
“I don’t think I have anything to be worried about.”
The new mum certainly seems to have made an impression on her new pal David, as yesterday, when asked if he was the alpha male on the new juding panel, he insisted:
“No, that’s Amanda Holden!”
He later conceded:
“No, there is one alpha male and that’s Simon.”
“Sometimes we gang up on him, but we all need to gang up on him together!”
Britain’s Got Talent kicks off tomorrow night and after watching the first episode yesterday, we can tell you that fans of the show will not be disappointed with the new fresh feel and the comedy element that David brings.
