Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell Denies One Horse Race

Simon Cowell has denied that Susan Boyle is a dead cert to win this years Britain’s Got Talent saying it isn’t the one horse race people think it is.

Speaking on GMTV, Cowell said: “There are some acts that you haven’t seen yet, it’s not quite the one horse race you are going to think this is.”

When asked if he would represent Ms Boyle if she won, he said: “It’s difficult to say at this stage because I think we’ve got to treat it as it is, which is a competition.

    Well after having seen that 11 million hits exist under the name of Susan Boyle, I can’t imagine anyone coming through the audition stages now to match that. So in my view it is a one horse race.

    I would like to believe that it wasn’t a one horse race so unless another 50 odd church soloists come out of the Nave plus another 20 odd prospective operatic divas and 30 odd real variety acts can stir this much youtube presence than it is a one horse race.

    The only thing that concerns me is will 11 million hits on youtube bring 11 million cd sales or will it result in another feeble number of sales after the show is over. Who knows?

    Again i’d like to think the underdog will win. Already she has been likened to the French Edith Piaff so can she do it.

    Simon does not have to represent her interests but he’d be a fool not to.

    WOW SUSAN you brought tears to my eyes i am 37 and more or less bedbound due to illness and next time i feel a bit low iam gona watch and listen to you sing,…you have got 1 of the MOST amazing vioces i have EVER listened to.. dont let them change you because you are you and i think your FANTASTIC!! ull go all the way i think and i pray you do and i dont think we are hear to judge you only that FANTASTIC VIOCE!!! keep GOING FOR YOUR DREAM YOUR PART WAY THERE NOW AND DONT LET THE WORLD 4GET YOU WHEN THE CONTEST IS OVER..
