Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell flies crew member John Hagenstede in private jet for the birth of his child

Simon Cowell invited a member of the Britain’s Got Talent production crew, to join him in his private jet when flying back from Edinburgh yesterday, it has been reported.

The TV boss made the offer to sound recordist John Hagenstede, when he heard that his girlfriend had went into premature labour and it looked like he was going to miss the birth of his child.

No normal flights were available until the next morning and so Simon took John, along with show stars Alesha Dixon and David Walliams in his private jet, from Scotland to London Luton, at which point Hagenstede drove to Surrey and met his partner in hospital.

John explained:

“Lisa wasn’t due for another nine days, so I was shocked to get the call and desperately wanted to get back to Surrey to be with her.”

“We looked up every possible option of getting me home and I was devastated when I realised the only option was waiting and getting a flight in the morning. I knew I would miss the birth of my first child.”

He continued:

“Simon, David and Alesha were so brilliant. They knew how important it was to me and not only did they let me share their private jet, they also gave me drinks on the flight, relaxed me and were generally lovely and supportive.

“As I left Simon, David and Alesha wished me luck and offered their congratulations.”

Hagenstede arrived just in time, as his baby boy Jude was born just minutes after his arrival.

But John wasn’t the only one to be chuffed at the thought of a journey in a private jet. Alesha and David looked quite excited also, when they tweeted out the picture below.

David wrote:
