Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell signs Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli to SYCO

Simon Cowell has reportedly signed Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli to his record label.

The music mogul was blown away by the opera singing duo when they first tried out for Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year. The teenage performers went on to come second on the ITV show, however even though they were pipped to the post by Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey, it seems the pair still have a promising music career ahead.

It has been reported that Jonathan and Charlotte have already began work on their debut album and Cowell confirmed last night that the record will be rush released and hitting shelves on September 3rd.

Insiders say he is hoping the pair can shift as many copies as Susan Boyle did three years ago, when she broke sales records all around the world with her album ‘I Dreamed A Dream.’

A source told The Sun:

“Simon knows that to make money from them he needs to move fast. Get the first album out as soon as possible before people have moved on. September is also a good time as The X Factor will be in its live stages so there is a chance to get them on the show and plug the album.”

The album will feature the duo’s audition song ‘The Prayer’ along with a number of other classical and contemporary tunes. They are working with producer Graham Stack, who also produced 3 albums for The X Factor contestants G4 which sold over 1.5 million copies and has recently produced albums for John Barrowman, Lee Mead and Connie Fisher.

On signing Jonathan and Charlote, Simon said: ‘This show is designed to give people like Jonathan and Charlotte an opportunity. Their debut album is going to be stunning.”

Jonathan added: “I’m still pinching myself that we are actually making our own CD.”

Charlotte continued: “This is a dream come true for us.”
