Britain’s Got Talent’s David Walliams launches new BBC comedy show ‘Autumn Leaves’ and offers special book treats for fans
BBC One controller Danny Cohen today announced a number of new commissions for BBC One at the Edinburgh International TV Festival.
Highlights from the many new shows coming to the channel include a brand new comedy series from David Walliams. Called Autumn Leaves it’s billed as a new six episode comedy series created by the Britain’s Got Talent judge which is set in an urban secondary school and is a comedy about a dysfunctional staff room, unrequited love and interactive white boards.
Walliams plays a chemistry teacher who’s hopelessly in love with the school’s new French teacher, who in turn is being chased by a lothario gym teacher. BBC In-House Comedy is producing with Mark Freeland serving as executive producer.
David admitted:
“I am very excited to tell you that I will be starring in and writing with the Dawson Brothers, a new sit-com for BBC1. I am delighted to be back at the BBC, writing and acting in a new sitcom.”
Naturally with David Walliams news it’s always in three’s. Today the cover and launch date of his autobiography was also revealed, and David had news for his fans saying: “My autobiography ‘Camp David’ will be out on the 11th of October, the first 1000 who pre-order will get a signed copy!” You can do so here:
His little fans are in for a treat too as they could be able to get their hands on David’s kids novel Ratburger before publication. On September 13 kids can come along for a thrilling evening of fun and surprises and be one of the very first to own a copy of the new book, days ahead of the book’s official publication date. Books will be available from Waterstones at Cadogan Hall on the night. Ticket holders are entitled to a £3 discount on a copy of Ratburger, redeemable only at this event, where they can also have it signed by David Walliams himself. The book will be out officially on September 19.
Despite his busy schedule David still pines for a certain special person, despite the recent birthday snub. He tweeted:
“CBB’s Jasmine Leonard get your claws off of my Simon. #simonanddavidforerver”
We love him!
