CONFIRMED: Simon Cowell will return to Britain’s Got Talent in 2012

ITV have reportedly confirmed that Simon Cowell WILL be returning to Britain’s Got Talent next year.

At a press conference in London this afternoon, ITV boss Adam Crozier told reporters that the music mogul would definitely be rejoining the judging panel in Spring of 2012, following the departure of Michael McIntyre and the sacking of US star David Hasselhoff.

It had recently been reported that Cowell would fly in to save the show, after his gameshow format Red Or Black wasn’t as successful as predicted and this year’s series of X Factor was plagued with talk of falling ratings and popularity.

Crozier revealed that Simon will be on the panel for the live shows – though it is not yet clear if he will attend auditions – but he ruled out a return for next year’s X Factor and Deadline report that he added:

“X Factor is still the most watched television show when you combine the Saturday and Sunday viewing figures.”

The Mirror recently reported that Simon already has his eye on a number of new stars – including David Walliams, Barbara Windsor and Dannii Minogue – for the new panel. Amanda Holden will return, but will miss some of the auditions while she takes maternity leave.
