David Walliams has been confirmed as a voice in the all-star voice cast for the 30-minute animated special Room On The Broom, which is to be broadcast on BBC1 this Christmas.

Created by Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler – the team behind The Gruffalo – it also features Rob Brydon and Martin Clunes among others.

Always charitable, David has donated his suede Lanvin trainers to the Small Steps Celebrity Shoe Auction 2012. The charity helps to get shoes to children in poverty. If you fancy a bid on the signed shoes, go to the Ebay page by clicking here.

David also revealed his Mr Stink filming is going well: “The TV version of ‘Mr Stink’ is looking fantastic. I was filming my small role as the PM today, and I couldn’t be happier about it all.”

But despite all of this, there’s one person David just keeps missing: Simon Cowell. Speaking in an interview this week David joked “He phones me most nights in tears!” Then. “No, we have occasional contact.

In the interview he also rubbished reports that the show’s producers weren’t happy with his “smutty” jokes and jibes at Simon’s sexuality.

He said: “There were stories that the producers were furious with me, but they weren’t. If they had been angry, they would have sacked me and replaced with Nicole Scherzinger or someone.”

David confessed he is jealous of the X Factor judges, with their live shows lasting 10 weeks compared to the Britain’s Got Talent’s 6 days! “I’m doing it again next year, and I can’t wait. It was so much fun. Now The X Factor‘s on, I get jealous of the judges.”

This week David appeared as all the Kardashians in Heat magazine. When he Tweeted the picture it was a major hit and was one of the most retweeted pictures of the day. His Heat drawing? Why Simon of course.
