When you are launching the royal anniversary premiere of the latest instalment in the James Bond saga, who better to present it then a famous fan full of encyclopedic Bond knowledge? This fan was quick witted funny man David Walliams.

Looking every inch as suave as the famous Spy, David fronted the live première last night in London’s Royal Albert Hall, which was watched by millions around the world.

David talked us through the proceedings and chatted with the stars, making us feel sad that he won’t have a Saturday night chat show of his own after choosing Britain’s Got Talent over having his own series.

The highlight, obviously, was David chatting to Bond himself, Daniel Craig. It was a joy to see how David could barely contain his excitement, but ever the professional he managed an interesting and funny interview.

David Walliams jokingly asked his former NYT mate who he plays in the film…. “Octapussy,” Craig deadpanned.

When asked about the pressure of delivering a worthy 50th anniversary instalment of the film series Craig said, “I tried not to think about it.” He also revealed how he keeps his Bond bod in shape. The secret? “I go to the gym, basically. Everyday.”

David also asked how difficult it was playing a more mentally tortured Bond at the start of the film.

After the movie an excited David tweeted:

“I just had the best evening at the ‘Skyfall’ premiere. I interviewed James Bond himself! Bond fan heaven…”

This morning his euphoria had not faded. He added:

“I am still buzzing after the Bond film premiere last night. It’s my second time seeing the film and I already have tickets to see it again!”
