David Walliams announced yesterday that he will host a large chunk of the BBC’s Comic Relief show this year, together with his close pal Alan Carr.
The 25th anniversary edition of the comedy charity extravaganza will start a lot earlier in 2013, so it can cram in exciting new sketches and a look back at some nostalgic funnies.
Returning for the special show, for the first time since 2007, is long term Relief supporter Rowan Atkinson. Comic Relief has this week officially announced that Rowan will do a very special one off performance for the charity. It will be an exciting return, a Rowan Atkinson sketch was a much loved CR tradition and we’re glad he’s back.
We hope that, as it is the anniversary, other comedians will return as well. It would be wonderful if other members of the original team could also be present. Especially if Rik Mayall and the Young Ones could reunite with Cliff Richard just one more time.
David Walliams, meanwhile has done a lot of mysery shooting for Comic Relief over the past few weeks. However yesterday he took a break from the Beeb and filmed the trailer for Britain’s Got talent, telling his Twitter followers:
“Today I’ll be re-united with my @SimonCowell We’re filming a promo for the next series of BGT. Mixed emotions. I keep laughing then crying.”
Just the two of them? Hmm, interesting.
