David Walliams releases new book Ratburger with onstage interview with Stephen Mulhern

Last night Ratburger was released at last. For the fourth time in two days David Walliams was pounced upon by ecstatic children during the signing of the book. But before this he was onstage with his Britain’s Got Talent chum Stephen Mulhern.

David gave a candid question and answer session with the children getting more and more frantic in their questioning. But not before Mulhern had finished his magic tricks and David had read a chapter of his new book, doing all the voices to surprised children.

The Little Britain star revealed that he used bits of his own life in his books, and apparently there were burgers made of rats in his childhood memories.

His phobia is height and … Simon Cowell.

His favourite books? Charlie and the chocolate factory… “Roald Dahl is the greatest!” and “Remains of the Day” by Kazu Ishiguro is his favourite adult book.

As a child he wanted to be 1. A spy and 2. Tarzan… “But that’s not really a job!”

He also announced that his earlier book Mr Stink is being filmed by the BBC next month.

David later tweeted his fans saying:

“Wow! I just had the best time tonight premiering ‘Ratburger’ in London. Even Stephen Mulhern doing magic couldn’t put a dampener on things. It was amazing to meet so many young fans of my books tonight. I can’t wait to find out what they think of the new book.”
