David Walliams reports live from the Olympics opening ceremony and supports Rebecca Adlington after Frankie Boyle insults

If you weren’t able to see the Olympics opening ceremony on TV last night you just had to go on Twitter where David Walliams gave the best Olympic coverage around.

The swimming ambassador attended the ceremony live at the stadium and gave a wonderful blow by blow report layered with amazing pictures, starting at the door.

Let’s recap::

“Olympics here we come…!”

What a beautiful building…!

Inside the stadium…

The wife and I at the stadium. Thankyou BT. x

A lady just said to me “well done on your little swim.

The Red Arrows…!

Show time…

This show is amazing!

James Bond & Her Majesty the Queen = best thing I have ever seen.

Rowan Atkinson just showed why he is the biggest British comedian in the world. Genius.

Come the countries flag parade David, like most started joking about the numbers of countries and the endless length of the parade.

Steps due on any moment now.

I don’t want to spoil it for you but the finale of the show tonight is Sinnita singing ‘So Macho’.

Blimey there are alot more countries than you think!

Only 457 countries to go now…

People’s Republic of Congo were stuck in the loo and missed their turn so unfortunately they have to start this whole parade thing again.

Please can someone wake me up when Zaire come on?

The Isle of Wight are next..

I like New Zealand but I must say I prefer Old Zealand.

Lara cheering for the Netherlands…

Olympic Fact. There are now nearly as many people in the Olympic stadium than the BGT’s choir Only Boys Aloud.

Just 7 hours to go now…

The Olympics are now over-running by two weeks so they have had to cancel all the sporting stuff.

David returned the next morning to reminisce about the big night and to support Swimming star Rebecca Adlington after comic Frankie Boyle attacked her via Twitter. He wrote:

I was on the Olympics TV last night for a millisecond running with the torch. 4 billion people saw me in a white shell-suit.

Last night in the grounds of the stadium around 7:30pm a woman asked me ‘are you staying for the opening ceremony?’

‘No’ I replied. ‘I am just here for the free buffet then I will be off.’

Adding:

I have met and spoken on the ‘phone to double Olympic Gold Medal swimmer Rebecca Adlington. And she is a beautiful woman, inside and out it is disappointing that anyone would want to be mean about her appearance. Rebecca’s an absolute inspiration, and a really lovely lady. Let’s get behind all our Team GB athletes now!

Great message, let’s do it GB!!
