David Walliams supports Unicef campaign, reveals new book cover, lands Simon Cowell ‘pup idol’ show and interviews Sir Roger Moore – phew!

It turns out that the holiday David Walliams was supposed to be on was cut rather short, as the actor appears to be all work and barely any play.

Yesterday the Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed that he would be interviewing Sir Roger Moore for GQ that day, asking his followers to put in questions for the former James Bond. It looks like the interview went rather well, as he said later:

“I just had the best few hours with Sir Roger Moore. Legend.”

David also asked his fans to sign the “Hunger Campaign” letter Unicef is planning to send to David Cameron, adding:

“Just 24 hrs before @unicef_uk’s child #hunger campaign reaches David Cameron. My name’s on here, make sure yours is too”.

David has been an avid supporter of the campaign calling for an end to child malnutrition for many weeks. With a few hours left you too can sign the petition here.

On a lighter note, it appears the comic wasn’t just mooning Simon Cowell in St Tropez, the pair struck a deal too, as it was reported today that David Walliams is to do the voiceover for ITV’s new “pup idol” reality show.

Top Dog Model will hunt down the UK’s best-looking and well-behaved pooches to be put to the test over a series of Crufts-style challenges. They will then be whittled down by an X Factor-style panel made up of celebs inluding singer and presenter Stacey Solomon.

A source told The Sun:

“This is a light-hearted show so David is the perfect choice to give the narration a tongue-in-cheek feel. He loves his dogs so will give off some of that passion to the audience.”

And there is more, David also revealed the cover of his new book Ratburger. He tweeted:

“In a little while I can unveil the cover of my new children’s book ‘Ratburger’. #soexcitedIcouldcry”

He later added:

“Ta-da! ‘Ratburger’. I hope you like the cover. Dx”

Yep, we do, it looks like quite a scary tale!!

David also stayed on top of the Olympics, continuing his support for Team GB even while he was away from the UK. He was especially interested in the open water swimming which is, naturally, close to his heart. Sadly, despite his well wishes Kerri Anne Payne only came fourth, after other swimmers played nasty and a dropped fluid bottle cost her her place.
