Diversity Wins Britain’s Got Talent 2009

diversity

It was almost a foregone conclusion and when Diversity ended up in the top two on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent with Susan Boyle I was sure she would win. We have been behind Diversity and Stavros Flatley all night but it seemed unlikely that they could overcome the Boyle juggernaut.

However the dance troupe triumphed and will go on to perform on this years Royal Variety Show, no one deserves it more.

However many issues have been thrown up by this years series and many questions need to be asked before the auditions for next year begin. After watching Hollie Steel crumble on last night’s semi final, we need to ask if it is detrimental to young children to be judged this way and put under this sort of pressure? After watching Susan Boyle come under attack from the media as she struggled to cope with the attention and furore surrounding her, does the show need to safeguard its more vulnerable competitors more stringently?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on tonight’s show and this series in general. Did the right act win? Should things be different next year? Leave your comments below…..

    It’s a pity!
Susan Boyle was the one why the world (we people out side UK) were watching. Anyway – she gave a positive emotion every time I repeatedly watched her on youtube.

  2. Bro says:

Yeah, Diversity deserved the win. Susan Boyle was way too over hyped, she had been on TV performing in a talent show twice up until tonight, no way did she deserve all the media attention she got. Just hyped by the Cowell machine…
Stravos Flately should have been in the final three though.

  3. Tamil says:

Diversity is jus mind blowing.. Susan is no where close..

  4. Trudy says:

Diversity were good winners as there routine was brilliant. My top 3 would have been Julian, Stavros and Diversity.
Personally I am glad that Susan Boyles did not win, she has a good voice but not amazing as all the media hype wanted us to think and it was unfair all the extra publicity that she had.
I think children have a place on BGT but the parents should make sure they can handle the pressure. Little Connie on the first series was amazing and had no problems at all.
Next year they should not promote one act over others like they did with Susan, all acts should have equal chances. Get rid of Piers and his daft comments and putting ridiculous acts through to annoy Simon as this cuts down on the talented acts going through.

I watched this show from start to finish and I never doubted that Diversity was by far the most talented act. Susan Boyle caused such a sensation because she represented the every woman. Her voice was good but not spectacular. The winner from season one, Paul Potts was a much better singer and a much more touching story. Diversity was awesome and Ashley Banjo their choreographer is mad talented not to mention one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen.

diversity were amazin but 2 grand should’ve WON x wot does every1 else think?

  7. unico says:

I wonder if Britain has actually every seen any good hiphop groups.

Diversity was boring. They spend so much time on “Trying” to be “Creative”. That they miss out on being good and doing a better routine.

  8. Graham says:

Yanks and Brits will never see eye to eye.

Diversity were the best on the night. Susan Boyle is over hyped and over-rated and there are lots of singers out there better than her. It is her frumpy image that bought her into the limelight and not her singing ability. I personally think Julian Smith should have finished ahead of Susan Boyle.

why did the brit press go after jamie pugh for allegedly lying about his background, yet stayed mum on both julian smith and flawless…both of whom have extensive professional experience…with julian even recording for simons company?

why did the press and brit celebs attempt to totally destroy susan? did it have something to do with her sudden popularity in the states, thanks to youtube?

i dont know about changing the format to limit the lowest age range, but i do think the format should be changed so that a 12 year old kid doesnt have to stand up there while the judges play mind games with the contestants….what simon did to some of the kids was terrible

while i know that the show doesnt want to inform the audience that it not only allows in pros, but assists them with developing fake histories, is it really fair to the amateurs that come on as contestants?

as for the winner…didnt really care

susan will make appearances throughout the states…simon made that clear in the finals

i hope they provide her with a good handler, because her disability seems to impact on her social skills

if i ran my own talent agency, i would love to sign brit chix (as long as they stuck to the power pop/punk stuff) and the dancing fat gay guys…the latter who could easily tour all the gay venues in the states

and i, like simon, thought stavros flatly were brilliant…i hate the lord of the dance with a passion…i just dont get it, and those two did a brilliant take-off

  10. Graham says:

To all the Yanks on here saying we got it wrong. You voted in George Bush, says it all really!!

I couldn’t keep my eyes off Diversity, Stavros Flatley and Julian Smith. Should have been top 3. For pure entertainment interest, Stavros Flatley should have won. What an amazing bond they have! And 2 unforgettable characters! Her Majesty the Queen would definately have a great laugh! Bravo to Diversity tho. Super stuff!

  12. lauren says:

  13. David says:

The best dance group won, the bit with the buzzers was creative

  14. Linda says:

Simon Cowell is a GENIUS Britain’ s Got Talent is so successful because it is watched by people who have had hopes and dreams and not had a platform to showcase their talent. We find hope with every act because it does not matter how old you are, how ugly you are, how fat you are, you might have something to give, amuse, entertain, some-one out there. Susan I can’t wait for your CD, I love your voice and I am nutty for the “Musical” solos. Good on you Simon for giving Hollie a second chance, she has unbelievable talent and proved to herself, early on, that she can overcome a huge hurdle which , I am sure, every person in show business has to sometime in their career. Diversity was absolutely mind blowing and in fact everybody in the last ten WON. We all know who you are, millions of us know. Keep on trucking. Don’t give up. WE WILL BE WATCHING YOU!!!!

  15. Laine says:

I’m an American and Britain definitely got it right

  16. Lawrence says:

Diversity was one of the few acts to consistently perform at a high level and didn’t have any stumbles. The voters picked them as the top act and by a surprisingly comfortable margin. All the finalists are winners, as well as many of the semi-finalists.

Many of the singers will get a contract and make a nice living. At this point in time, Susan and Shaheen will be in demand and command the most money and deservedly so. Shaun Smith should make it as a pop star. As we’ve seen, choosing the right songs for your voice is critical and expect Susan, Shaun, and Shaheen to be advised by professionals. Hollie is a fantastic talent, has excellent voice range, and with formal voice training and as her body matures she will become a powerful singer. Hope Greg Pritchard finds some backing so he can get formal training for his very rare voice. Natalie Okri is another find and expect her to be signed quickly and release an album soon.

Love Julian but Sue Son can eclipse him in earnings. She’s still a bit raw but young enough to develop a stage persona. With the exposure from the show, both are now known musicians and need to become entertainers to last in this business. This is their ‘big break’ and need to capitalize on it.

The dance groups and dancers were great this year and delivered exceptional performances.

  17. GG says:

This year’s contenders were extremely hard to choose from. I followed this show on youtube from start to finish and during the auditions, Susan, Diversity, Julian, Shaun, Shajeen, Hollie, Greg and Aidan Davis became my top favorite acts, and by the semis, I decided to root for Aidan. I was disappointed he didn’t make the grand finals but seeing Diversity’s final performance, I have to agree with Simon. It was by far, the best ever performance. They just got better and better (sadly for others, they either fall short of better or stay as they are).

Congratulations, Diversity! You won BGT fair and square and you definitely deserved to win!

  18. kholio says:

    Gongratulations!!!

as susan say the better won the competution well done .
