Even the thought of gay James Bond has always been met with horror by makers and fans alike. But it looks like we won’t see any other gay characters any time soon either.
One of James Bond’s biggest fans, David Walliams, revealed a conversation he had with producer Barbara Broccoli when guesting on the One Show yesterday:
“I did ask her to be Moneypenny. I said: if M is a woman, why can’t Moneypenny be a man, and have a crush on James Bond? But she just laughed, and not in a good way.”
Which is a shame, because why couldn’t Bond films include men falling for the famous spy?
Even Daniel Craig himself said that flirting with men as well as women would make a fun change from the usual samey seduction scenes that have gone on for the last 50 years. Come on Bond world, open up a little and be inclusive.
