Julia has been dancing for 15 years and after attending latin and ballroom lessons in Latvia she went to study at the Shao Ballet school in Russia from the age of 17-19 years. She began belly dancing by accident after happening on a lesson one day and fell in love with it. When she moved to Britain 4 years ago it was the belly dancing she concentrated. She now performs regularly at clubs around London and at numerous corporate gigs.

Julia is a very skillful dancer, and mesmerising performer, though it was a little hard to see this in either TV performance due to the editing and camera angles.
It’s a shame that most of the comments, from both the judges and in the press, have focussed on her being attractive to men: while she is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and belly dance is a sensuous dance, men, women and children can enjoy her performance. If a ballet dancer appeared in the competition, nobody would focus solely on her appearance despite the fact that ballet dancers often show their knickers while dancing!
It takes years of training to become as good as Julia is. She is a truly exceptional dancer and I hope her appearance on this competition will bring her the revignition she so richly deserves.
