Sick Simon Cowell misses Britain’s Got Talent as David Walliams has ‘worst day’ of his life!
Simon Cowell missed out on the latest session of Britain’s Got Talent auditions, after falling ill this afternoon.
The music mogul was set conjoin David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the red carpet in Manchester for the latest day of tryouts but instead of sitting through hours of songs, dances and comedy routines, he stayed tucked up in his hotel room as he tries to shake a nasty flu.
The X Factor boss picked up a bug on Tuesday of this week, when the panel hit Birmingham, and today his three co-stars critiqued a new bunch of hopefuls without their boss and master.
Cowell stayed wrapped up and sipping lemsips as his pals braved the cold and rain at the city’s Lowry Theatre.
A show source told The Mirror:
“Simon hates missing auditions and filming sessions but he has not been out of bed for two days and is struggling to shake off the flu.
“The only good thing is it means auditions in the afternoon will start on time as normally Ant and Dec and the judges are left waiting for Cowell to show up. Fans won’t be waiting outside too long either.”
We are starting to wonder if Simon just has a problem with Mancunians though, as last year he fell ill at the same stop on the audition tour. Suspicious…right?
The only plus point is that he didn’t ask Louis Walsh to keep his seat warm, as he did when he missed X Factor USA tryouts a few years ago.
David was more upset than most about Cowell’s absence today and despite their recent rows, it seems he’s missing his BFF.
“My @SimonCowell is not well today so we are filming the #BGT Manchester auditions without him. This is the worst day of my life.”
“A hugely entertaining day of auditions for #BGT Manchester audiences are the best.”
The comic revealed they sorted a Simon stand in….a pair of them in fact.
“@antanddec sat in for @SimonCowell today but were too nice to buzz anyone. Aaah…!”
Cowell attended the BGT auditions in Birmingham earlier this week and tweeted:
“I just got back from bit auditions in Birmingham. Really good and really strange. Lowlight was a dancing owl. Who didn’t.”
