Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has reportedly exploded in a temper tantrum in the middle of Heathrow airport, leading her management to charter a private jet from Ireland to bring her back to her native Scotland.
The Mirror reports that Susan, 49, rowed consistently with her niece/personal assistant Joanne Crawford during her trip to Japan but dissolved into a foul mouthed word rant when she landed in Heathrow airport last week. She was booked on a scheduled flight to Edinburgh, but plans were changed and a private jet was booked for the journey instead.
Susan’s niece was added to her staff last year, in the hope that a family member would be able to help Boyle stay calm. However, the two women are said to clash regularly and a source told The Mirror that things elevated as they prepared to leave Japan. They said:
“Susan flew off the handle because she didn’t like the way Joanne was speaking to her. It was a full-on tantrum. She was screaming, shouting and swearing at Joanne, accusing her of treating her like dirt.”
Another of Susan’s nieces – entertainment lawyer Kirsty Foy flew to Japan from Canada in a bid to diffuse the situation, however the insider added:
“If anything, after Kirsty arrived things got worse.”
Things didn’t calm down when Susan’s flight from Japan was delayed for two hours, meaning that her private jet missed its take off slot. Facing another delay in Heathrow the source says that Susan melted down.
“It all kicked off again in public at the baggage carousel at Heathrow Terminal Three,” said the source. “Susan was absolutely raging. It’s a 13-hour flight from Tokyo and she was yelling at Joanne that she just wanted to f****** get home. Then she started calling Joanne a ****.
“As a precaution, a message was actually sent to the cabin crew on the private jet to be prepared for problems between the two women. Joanne and Susan were supposed to have a bond which would stop this sort of thing happening. But it’s not working.”
A spokesman for Susan said: “Susan is absolutely fine. Japan is her favourite destination. She had a fantastic time there. She was with management on the flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh. The private jet had been chartered earlier in the week.”
