In America, Susan is already outselling young mega-sellers Rihanna, Lady Gaga and 50 Cent with a projected first week sales figures of around 1 million (American chart announced next week), defying them all with an expected number 1 position. In doing so she is set to break Eminem’s previous record for highest first week (US) sales this year. Susan has broken retail records around the world including selling 80,OOO copies in four short sales windows on QVC and becoming the biggest pre-ordered album in the history of Amazon.

Yay Susan! I am so proud of her. It should be pointed out also, however, that there would have almost certainly been even more massive sales of her CD here in America except for the fact that Amazon refused to allow us to order more than three CDs. This weekend several local stores here in Seattle area where I checked have been completely sold out of the CD since at least Saturday morning. This has very likely caused her to lose a large number of sales. Sad. Still, I am thrilled for her success in spite of the fact I feel this limitation in pre-orders allowed undoubtedly caused Susan to lose a lot of sales. We WANT it but we cant GET it.
I agree with Misti. I also tried to order more Susan Boyle advance CD’s on Amazon and was told I had exceeded my limit of three CD’s per person and could not order any more. Imagine if they had the real number of people who would have loved one of the advanced copies for a friend or relative! I’m wondering if Amazon does this with other popular artists’ new releases? Or is it just Susan who is limited for sales?

FYI, one more record to add to your story! In the US, Susan Boyle is expected to have the highest selling first week for a new artist since 1993. Second of all time, behind Snoop Dogg (1993).

Super! But I STILL contend she would have had FIRST of all time had Amazon not limited our purchases. Like Dee said above, I would like to know if Amazon does this with other artists or if Susan was singled out and why!
So many stores that bought Susan’s cd for the holiday season sold out in the first week! I guess they under-estimated a bit! There are a lot of people still waiting to buy it. Hope they can restock quickly and keep their customers happy. What a nice Christmas present the success of this album is for Susan. Merry Christmas, Susan!
