Susan Boyle has said that her progression to Britain’s Got Talent final this Saturday was unexpected.

The Scottish spinster sang Memory from Cats and whilst some were unmoved, it was enough to secure her the highest amount of public votes and put her through to the next round.

In an interview posted on the ITV website Boyle, 48, said: “I’m feeling really good because it was a totally unexpected result.”

She said she had a rocky start to her performance.

“It was a fairly rocky start to begin with, because to begin with I sort of had a croaky note but that was because I had a cold. I said to myself ‘well you’d better just pick yourself up and keep going’. So all I did was just keep going and after that it just got better. The audience reaction was really stunning.”

Boyle said the show was “completely different” from her audition.

She added: “The pressure was really on me but you tend to ignore the fact that other people are watching and just concentrate on what’s happening in the here and now in that particular studio.”

The singer is now looking forward to the final to “fulfil this dream and see it through to the end.”
