Susan Boyle appeared on ITV breakfast show GMTV this morning and admitted after hearing that Elaine Paige had praised her yesterday, it would be fantastic to duet with her idol.

The modest Scot said: “It would be fantastic. I admire her singing – she’s some performer.”

Speaking about her new found fame, Susan admitted it’s been like a “whirlwind”, adding “The reaction has been great, it’s been out of this world. Everybody’s been wishing me well.”

Susan’s rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables has been watched more than 100 million times on YouTube – making her an international star. Commenting on her success stateside, she said: “I’ve never visited the States – that’s phenomenal in itself. You know, I mean that’s unbelievable.”

Talking to GMTV’s Ross King later in the show, Simon Cowell said: “It is incredible. You know, this woman just walks out with this weird walk and the first thing that goes through your head at that point is ‘How quickly can I get this person off because I know this is going to be terrible’.”

Susan went on to say she was astounded at the judges’ reaction after her TV performance: “It was fantastic… I can’t think of the right words for that. It was actually a tribute to my mother. She died recently and that was something of a payback – it’s a payback.”

Asked if we could expect an all-new Susan during her next appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, she said: “It remains to be seen, but I think I just prefer plain Jane just now.”

The singing sensation also played down previous comments that she’s never been kissed, saying: “That was made in a joke – I did say it wasn’t an advert.”
