Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has reportedly been asked to sing at a special tribute for Catholic saint, Padre Pio.
Padre Pio was a Capuchin priest from Italy, who became famous for his stigmata. On 16 June 2002, he was canonized by Pope John Paul II.
Sources have reported that Father Gian Maria Di Giorg, one of the most senior figures in the Roman Catholic church recently visited Susan and asked her to sing at a special service in Padre Pio’s honour.
Susan is said to be considering the offer and the invitation reportedly came about after she was given a special set of rosary beads, containing a piece of Padre Pio’s bandage stained with blood from his stigmata.
Maria Dorrian, the Scottish delegate for the Padre Pio Centre, who organised the gift, told The Express: “Susan has inspired so many of us. I don’t think she realises the impact she is having, not only through her music, but spiritually to people throughout the world.”
